About White Barn Preschool

Our History

Our preschool may be housed in a new location, but its' heart is built on nearly two decades of experience—anchored by a lead teacher with 19 years of successfully guiding young learners. We were created out of both a community need and a deep desire to ensure families could continue benefiting from the teaching style our educators have refined over many successful years. By partnering closely with our teachers, we designed a program that allows them to teach with the same freedom, joy, and effectiveness they are known for, while building an environment that is fun, adventurous, and rich with opportunities for children to discover, learn, and grow. We have preserved the strong academic focus and kindergarten-readiness foundations from previous programs, while enhancing the play, exploration, and curiosity that make learning feel magical. Set on over six acres in the Stillwater area of Duvall, our campus includes sprawling outdoor space where children can ride bikes and scooters, run freely in a safe setting, explore the outdoors and enjoy a clubhouse, swing set, slides, and playhouses—creating endless opportunities for friendship and imagination. Inside, children enjoy a dedicated sensory area, imaginative play spaces, a cozy circle-time carpet, abundant open-ended toys, and thoughtfully designed learning zones—all crafted to inspire wonder every day.

Our Program

Academics

Our academic Pre-K curriculum provides a well-rounded foundation across a wide range of subjects, including:

  • Early literacy — alphabet recognition, letter sounds, and sight words
  • Math skills — counting, number recognition, shapes, and basic concepts like more and less
  • Science — hands-on exploration of the natural world, both indoors and outdoors, encouraging curiosity through observation and simple experimentation
  • Social studies — children discover their community, families, diverse cultures, and the world around them

A major emphasis of our program is social-emotional development, where children practice sharing, taking turns, understanding emotions, collaborating with peers, using manners, and showing compassion.

We also nurture:

  • Fine and gross motor growth
  • Communication
  • Speech development
  • Cognitive skills such as problem-solving
  • Spanish language learning

Our structured yet play-based approach allows preschoolers to learn an incredible amount in a joyful and engaging way—often without even realizing how much they are learning. They love coming to school to play with their friends and by the end of the year, they leave our program confident, capable, and fully prepared for kindergarten.
